BAMBOO. A sustainable natural material

We discovered bamboo when we were investigating sustainable and natural materials, and we found that bamboo mixes both of those qualities we wanted in LIMA. We’re going to explain why we fell in love with it and we’re sure you’re going to love it as much as we do.

Bamboo it’s a natural fiber that comes from a fast-growing grass (no, it’s not a tree!) and it produces 35% more oxygen than trees. It uses 75% less water for growing than cotton and it regenerates by itself. It can grow naturally a meter per day and it doesn’t need any fertilisers or pesticides/insecticides to grow. Oh! And it also blocks 98% of UV rays, cool right?

Bamboo is one of the strongest and resistant fibers of the world and it has a long life usage, it could last 7 times more than cotton if you treat it well.

Bamboo absorbs 50% more water and it is twice as breathable than cotton.

It also is 100% biodegradable, hypoallergenic, antibacterial and antimicrobial. That last one is due to the bamboo Kun, a natural bioagent that helps reduce all the bacteria and microbes that grows in skin and clothes.

If we haven't convinced you yet, let us explain that bamboo is also one of the softest fabrics in the world: it has a silk touch that you will never forget. It’s also one of the best allies you will have for your skin care, even if you don’t have any allergies or skin disease. Once you use bamboo, you will never go back to any other synthetic fibers. We use that fiber for both collections we have, workout and basics, as it’s a very versatile kind of fabric.

We mix bamboo with spandex to get a stretchy fiber so it can adapt to your body, thus you can find in our workout collection many pieces made from bamboo. On the other hand, we use 100% bamboo for non-stretchy pieces (that are coming soon!!) or mixed as well with spandex to make cute and comfortable tops for your daily basics.

As you can see, bamboo is one of our favorite fabrics, hope we convinced you to be one of yours too!
